Barbara T. Cross, 85, of Bedford died April 21, 2015 at Carlyle Place in Bedford surrounded by her family.
She was born in Beverly, Mass., on April 1, 1930, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Lillian (Dupere) Boisvert.
She had resided in Bedford for the past three years, formerly living in Epping and Vero, Fla. She lived most of her life in Londonderry.
While living in Londonderry, she operated Barb’s Beauty Salon, and for 10 years she and her former husband, Win Ralston, owned Ralston’s Bread Board. She had also worked as a surgical assistant for Dr. David Taylor in Londonderry.
During her time in Vero Beach she worked as a ball shagger for the Dodgers.
In addition to her talents as a seamstress, she loved to entertain, throw parties and knew how to make people laugh. She was remembered as a “feisty Frenchwoman” by friends and family.
She is survived by her five daughters, Wendy Cabral and her husband, Dick, of Jupiter, Fla., Diana Gravel and her husband, Roger, of Manchester, Carol Ralston of Nashua, Debbie Ralston of Manchester and Heidi Ordway and her husband, David, of Chesapeake, Va.; one son, Kurt Ralston and his wife, Renee, of Simpsonville, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Ben Rae, Sean and Nicole Ordway, Nicholas and Emily Ralston, and Rick and Sally Cabral; seven great-grandchildren, Mia and Ali Rae, Austin and Jagger Spacy, and Kaeli, Jackson, and Makayla Cabral; a brother, Edward Boisvert and his wife, Lorraine, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two sisters, Rita Flanders of South Carolina and Annette Pelletier and her husband, Herve, of Raymond; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Cross, and by her sisters RoseAnn Barrett and Cecile Boisvert.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Thursday April 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church, One South Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry.
