Clarence M. Blaisdell

Clarence M. Blaisdell, 97 of Londonderry died May 27, 2014 in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester.

Mr. Blaisdell was born in Plainville, Mass., on Nov. 13, 1916, a son of the late Caspar T. and Flora (Devereaux) Blaisdell.

He was raised in Wrentham, Mass., and lived in Conover, N.C., before moving to Londonderry 21 years ago.

During World War II, Mr. Blaisdell served in the U.S. Army with the Fourth Field Artillery Unit in the Pacific Theatre.

He worked with his family for many years at Blaisdell’s Market in Wrentham, Mass., and was later employed as a school bus driver in the Wrentham community, where he was known as “Cappy.”

He was a member of the Wrentham American Legion Post #225 and a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Wrentham. He was always making jokes.

He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Breslin and her husband, Raymond, of Londonderry; his son, Thomas Blaisdell and his wife, Diana, of Ashburn, Va.; three grandchildren, Kelly Breslin of Londonderry, Holly Parinello of Falls Church, Va., and Erin Plunkert of Leesburg, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Patrick, Connor, Aidan and Emily; two sisters, Dorothy Ross of Lebanon, Maine and Geneva Evans of Wrentham, Mass., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances E. (Wilson) Blaisdell, in 1992.

Calling hours were June 1 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Londonderry. Funeral services were June 2 in the funeral home. Graveside committal with military honors were held at the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery, Boscawen.
