Cross-Country Crews Trounce Timberlane in Home Meets

The Timberlane Regionals Owls’ cross-country contingents proved utterly unable to get off the ground at Londonderry High School last Thursday, Sept. 27.

Londonderry’s boys’ and girls’ squads both pummeled their Timberlane opponents in enjoying overwhelming successes on their home course.

The Lancer males absolutely routed the visiting Owls, notching a perfect score of 15 while the visiting Owls finished with a 50.

Londonderry claimed nine of the top 10 spots including the first seven thanks to the performances of race winner Ben Palumbo (time of 17 minutes and 45 seconds), Eric Nowak in second (17:45), Kyle Hoglund in third (17:45), Will Heenan in fourth place (17:46), Kerry Daley in fifth (17:46), Matt Griffin in the sixth spot (17:46), and Dylan Hotter in seventh place (17:46). Christian Smith bagged ninth (18:03) and Chris Burpeau in the 10th spot (18:10).

And longtime coach Ed Burgess’ Lady Lancers were every bit as impressive as the boys in absolutely pounding the Timberlane troop, with that Londonderry bunch also taking nine of the top 10 places.

Grace McDonough was the first runner across the finish line, completing the LHS course in 19 minutes and 54 seconds. She was followed by teammate Caitlin Boufford in second just a second later and Cailey McDonough in third in 21:23.

Bagging the fifth through 10th places for Londonderry were Jazzy Brown (22:12), Cailin Borovicka (22:20), Abby Rollinson (22:59), Alea Millis (23:35), Gabby Page (23:56), and Delaney Root (24:07).

The LHS contingents then returned to competitive action this Tuesday, Oct. 2 – after Londonderry Times press time – at Salem High School against the host Blue Devils and the Winnacunnet High Warriors’ crews from Hampton.
