Eacrett Hits 1,000, Girls’ Remain in the Hunt for Title

The Londonderry High School Girls’ Basketball team entered the final few games of the regular season, with hopes of knocking the Bedford Bulldogs down in the standings and elevating the Lancers position to second place.

Unfortunately, after a big win in Nashua, Londonderry fell to Bedford over the weekend, at home, and now will most likely be settling for the number three seed in the upcoming playoffs.

The silver lining was senior Brooke Eacrett getting her 1,000th career point after have a monster scoring stretch in four games.

Eacrett had 30-points in the first game of the week, continued from the previous week, where she had scored 65-points in three games.

The Lancers began their week at Nashua North where they commanded the courts, holding the Titans to just three-points in the first quarter and leading their host 42-22 by the half.

Londonderry captured its 14th victory of the season on Tuesday night, outscoring Nashua 74-46 with Eacrett leading the charge with her 30-points.

Eacrett had eight, three-pointers to lead the team in scoring.

Senior Sammie Sullivan had 22-points in the win, including three triples.

Junior Gemma Murray also contributed three from outside the arc and finished with 12-points.

In the team’s rematch with the defending Division I Champs, the Bedford Bulldogs, on Saturday afternoon, a game that was rescheduled from the day before, Londonderry was held to 46-points and lost to Bedford for the second time this season.

Londonderry led the game 12-9 after one period, lost pace in the second to trail 21-26 at the half.

The Lancers were outscored 25-31 in the second half for the 57-46 result.

In the game, Eacrett ended the third-quarter with a foul shot that put her at the millennium mark in her high school scoring. Her scoring was cooled off by the Bulldog defense, putting up just 12-points, behind Sullivan who battled her way to 16-points.

Murray finished with eight-points.

The Lancers were scheduled for just one more regular season game. On Tuesday, Feb. 24, they look to finish at 15-3 with a win over Keene (9-8) at home.
