Eighth Grade Teacher on Indefinite Leave

Eighth grade Heatwave English and Language Arts teacher Kevin Cavanaugh has left the classroom indefinitely, according to an e-mail sent home to parents by Londonderry Middle School Principal Richard Zacchilli.

Asked about the indefinite nature of Cavanaugh’s absence, Zacchilli referred to his e-mail.

The e-mail, dated Jan. 27, advises parents that Cavanaugh “will be out for an indefinite period of time, due to  personal reasons. Mrs. Ann Krupp, certified teacher, will be taking over for Mr. Cavanaugh during his absence. She is quite familiar with all aspects of our eighth grade program, and has held several long-term positions at the middle school. Please know as well, that Mr. Cavanaugh will be submitting second quarter report card grades, and has made his recommendations regarding high school English placement for Heatwave students.”

Zacchilli wrote in the email that he will “communicate with you any further updates or changes. Thank you for your continued understanding and support.”

Superintendent of Schools Nathan Greenberg would only say that Cavanaugh’s indefinite departure was a personnel issue and that he couldn’t discuss the matter.
