Elsie MacDonald

Elsie (Alicia) Madeline (deJesus) MacDonald, 82, of Londonderry, formerly of Charlestown, Mass., died Jan. 5, 2014 at home after a brief illness.

Born in Virginia on July 9, 1931, daughter of Domingo and Ernestine (Von Kahle) deJesus, she was a graduate of Charlestown High School and in 2002 received an Associate’s degree in theology from Notre Dame College.

She was employed as an X-ray technician at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, at AT&T as a telephone operator, at Schrafft’s Candy and most recently in the Human Resources Department at Hadco Corporation, Derry, from which she retired in 1998.

She was a communicant at St. Mark’s Church, Londonderry, where she was a religious education instructor for many years, a Eucharistic Minister, and a facilitator in the Right of Christian Initiation of Adults program.

She enjoyed traveling.

She leaves behind her sons Eduardo J. (wife, Kathy) of Brewster, Mass.; John W. (wife, Kristy) of Manchester, and Donald J. (wife, Lynne) of Londonderry; grandchildren Jason of East Bridgewater, Mass., Christopher of South Boston, Mass., Kelsey of Brighton, Mass. and Marissa and Cameron, both of Londonderry; her sisters, Mary Gonzales of California; and Ernestine Nocon of Rhode Island; brother, Ricardo deJesus of Andover, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Donald J. MacDonald; her brother Domingo deJesus and her sister Virginia Wachoski.

Calling hours are Thursday, Jan. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Peabody Funeral Home, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial is Friday, Jan. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, Londonderry. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Mass. 01701.
