Evelyn Stebbins

Evelyn Evans Stebbins, 92, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in the Arbors at Bedford, NH surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Riverside, CA on October 20, 1925, a daughter of the late William and Harriet (Hurd) Evans, and had been a resident of Londonderry, NH for about two years, formerly living in Palm Desert and Whittier, CA for many years. Evelyn was a graduate of Beverly Hills High School in southern CA and later Knox College in Galesburg, IL where she became a lifelong and active member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority until just the last few years.  he made a career of working as a College Admissions Counselor for Whittier College and later at Marymount California University. Evelyn was a longtime bridge player and loved to travel, enjoying multiple trips abroad with her husband and great friends.  She also served as president of many charitable organizations, in Whittier and the desert, including President of the Palm Springs/Desert Cities Alumni Club from 2000 to 2002. She also made a lifelong habit of “adopting” family members to enlarge her already extended family.  She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Richard Stebbins, two sons, Philip Stebbins and wife Linda of Londonderry, NH and Timothy Stebbins and wife Leslie of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Geoffrey Stebbins and wife Jessica, Katherine Stebbins Remesch and husband Bryce, Amy Stebbins, Rebecca Stebbins, Thomas Stebbins and Emma Stebbins; three great grandchildren, Charles, Ryell, and Kyrian; and one sister, Suzanne Jarman of Carmel, CA.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Orchard Christian Fellowship in Londonderry. A reception will follow at the home of Philip & Linda Stebbins, 17 Hardy Road, Londonderry. Private interment will be in the Hurd family plot in Olivewood Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
