A short service took place at the Hicks-O’Brien Central Fire Station on Monday, Sept. 11 to pay respect to those tragically lost 22-years ago. Then, Deputy Chief Bo Butler, now chief, at upper left, led the ceremony by quoting the Gettysburg Address and also saying, “We must never forget. We must always remember and use that day as way that we can look back and recall as a day to motivate us, to keep us engaged and to live a life worthy of those sacrifices made by so many.” The service ended with Call firefighter Bruce Kenison tolling the 5-5-5 bell and having the flag positioned at half-staff.
