Rich Nagy influenced countless student athletes during his many years as a track and field coach and math teacher and department head at Londonderry High School, and his unexpected passing last year touched a great many folks. Now, they get to pay him back in at least a small way by taking part in the First Richard Nagy Memorial Scholarship Fund 2-Mile Walk/Run at Hollis-Brookline High School, where Nagy also taught before retiring.
The event will take place starting at 10 a.m. on Sept. 25, and proceeds will go to the Richard Nagy Memorial Scholarship Fund at Hollis-Brookline High.
Additional donations may be made to the scholarship fund electronically by going to “YouCaring.com” and choosing the “Richard Nagy Memorial Scholarship Fund,” or by a check made payable to Lancer Timing Services.
Race applications should be mailed no later than Monday, Sept. 19 to Lancer Timing Services, P.O. Box 5472, West Lebanon, NH, 03784, or send your form electronically to rick@lancertiming.com.
Race-day registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Hollis-Brookline High School, 24 Cavalier Court, Hollis. Number pick-up for pre-registrations will also take place at the high school.
The two-mile route will begin and end at Hollis-Brookline High School.
Specially-designed shirts will be presented to the first 100 race registrants.
More race information can be obtained at the Lancer Timing Services website. Nagy and Rick Berryman co-founded that timing service company together before Nagy handed the reins over to his partner and moved to Florida.
