The new head coach for Londonderry High School’s boys’ varsity basketball team, Jaryd Piecuch, is not only teaching the game, but teaching his team the value of community and giving back. Piecuch recently held a free throw contest fundraiser for his players to raise money to support a local charity, Fare NH. The event raised close to $10,000, with proceeds being split between Fare NH and the boys’ basketball team. The donation to Fare NH will benefit foster/adoption families in New Hampshire for Christmas. The fundraiser consisted of the Varsity, JV, and Freshman teams accepting pledges based on how many free throws each player hit (out of 50 attempts). Ryan Williams hit the most free throws (45), while Varsity team captain Kyle Rondeau, a senior, raised the most money, followed a close second by sophomore Blake Thompson. Coach Piecuch hopes to make this an annual tradition moving forward.” Courtesy photo
