George Roland Costigan, 80, of Londonderry, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at his home. He was born in Boston, MA on June 27, 1937, a son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Seviour) Costigan. Mr. Costigan was a resident of Londonderry for 15 years, formerly living in Tewksbury, MA and Billerica, MA. He was a graduate of Boston College High School, Class of 1955 and later attended Boston College. He was employed as Assistant Vice President of State Street Bank. Mr. Costigan was an avid reader with an extensive paperback collection. He will be sadly missed by his beloved dog, Sweetie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary (Gianatasio) Costigan of Londonderry, one daughter, Judy Costigan of Londonderry, two brothers, Edward Costigan of Lynnfield, MA, and Raymond Costigan of Saugus, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Costigan.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Rd., Londonderry.
