Gladys O. Provencher

Gladys O. Provencher, 102, of Naples, FL, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in Lakeside Pavilion in Naples. She was born in St. Armand, Quebec, Canada on September 10, 1914, a daughter of the late Homer Sweet and Janet Metevier.  She moved to Florida in August of 2008 from Derry, NH where she had lived since 1952. Mrs. Provencher was a member of the Mizpah Rebekah Lodge #15 in Derry, where she had served as Noble Grand. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Derry.  Mrs. Provencher had worked for Klev Bro Shoe Co. in Derry, retiring in 1981, and had also worked for several other shoe shops in Derry.  She enjoyed watching the food network on TV, loved to sew, bake and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her son, Alfred Elliott and his wife Pauline of Londonderry, NH; three daughters, Gloria Gutwein of Naples, FL, Shirley Pochick and her husband Francis of Staunton, VA, and Gilda Pinedo and her husband Max of Laguna Niguel, CA; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Provencher in 1972, as well as her siblings, Mabel, Ethel, Eugene, Howard, and Esther.

Following cremation, a calling hour will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 from 9 – 10 a.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.  The burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in E.
