John L. Sullivan, 78, of Londonderry died at his home on June 1, 2014.
He was born Oct. 24, 1935 in Woburn, Mass., a son of the late David and Margaret (Mallon) Sullivan.
He was a resident of Londonderry for 40 years, formerly living in Burlington, Mass.
Mr. Sullivan retired as a Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army. He was employed for over 20 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Hogan) Sullivan of Londonderry; six children, Kevin Sullivan of New York City, N.Y., John Sullivan of Santa Catalina, Panama, Hope Gagnon of Londonderry, Kathryn Edmiston of Boston, Mass., Susan Charpentier of Manchester and Erin Sullivan of Rye; eight grandchildren, Joey, Tiffany, Gerrett, John L., Toni Vitella, Jaclyn, David and Michael; one great-granddaughter, Ava; his siblings, Joan Collins of Wells, Maine, David Sullivan of Revere, Mass., and Brenda Ricci of Cliffwood, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, June 4, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 5, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial followed in Pillsbury Cemetery, Hovey Road, Londonderry.
