The Londonderry High gymnastics squad headed to Spaulding High School in Rochester on Sunday, Dec. 27, and returned home with a victory in a six-team meet.
The Lady Lancers tallied a team score of 129.3 to best the runner-up Bishop Guertin Lady Cardinals (121.1), Salem Lady Blue Devils (115.6), Dover Green Wave (112.2), Alvirne of Hudson (111.3), and the host Spaulding High Lady Red Raiders (95.95).
LHS coach Heather Tuden had loads of reasons to be proud of her charges following this meet, not the least of which was the fact that her Lady Lancers enjoyed such overwhelming success despite being short-handed.
“Considering we had three girls out this meet with the LHS band trip, family vacations, and illness, we were still able to come in first. The girls really pushed through and were able to fill in the gaps where we needed them to,” said the coach.
The victorious locals claimed top-three places in every event and the all-around as well, even tallying a sweep in the floor exercise, thanks to the performances of winner Jill McIntire (score of 9.0), Mira Kutney (8.9) in second, and Courtney Baharian (8.8) in third.
“We also had good (floor) routines from Camille Lamont, Maddie Croteau, and Maddie Baumann,” said Tuden.
McIntire and Croteau tied for first place on vault with matching 8.1 scores, and Suzie Moore tied for second (8.0). Londonderry also received strong vaults from Baumann and Skyler Endyke.
Baumann placed third on the uneven bars with her score of 7.7, and Tara Nigro, Jessi Pignone, and Croteau also performed well.
Kutney placed first for the local crew on the balance beam (9.0), and Tyla Kelley, Baharian, Pignone, and Moore also had solid routines.
Baumann placed third overall in the all-around with her strong score of 31.95.
The Lady Lancers’ next meet will be on Sunday, Jan. 3, at Goffstown High.
