The Londonderry High School Girls’ Basketball team has had their problems this season, but during their final two games of the regular season had some positive results.
The Lady Lancers had a 62-58 overtime win against Salem High School on the road and a 58-40 victory at home against Nashua North High School to finish the season with at 8-10.
The wins solidified a spot in the upcoming Division I Championship playoffs.
In the Monday night, Jan. 31 game against the Lady Blue Devils of Salem, both teams battled through four quarters and wound up tied and needed an overtime period to settle the contest.
In that quarter, the LHS squad came out on top with the 62-58 win.
Londonderry senior forward Olivia Chau had 28-points in the game to lead her team. Junior guard Jordon Furlong finished with 16-points, freshman Kate Sloper had nine-points and Talia Iorio had five in the game.
The team’s final contest of the season, its Senior Night game against Nashua North scheduled for Friday night, Feb. 4, was rescheduled to the following day due to weather, and had each of the seniors contributing to the win.
Lancer seniors Madelyn O’Shaunessy, Olivia Chau and Kaitlyn Hardy where all given playing time in the game and O’Shaunessy was able to put the final two-points of the game on the board for her team.
O’Shaunessy had missed much of the season due to injury.
In the 58-40 win over the Lady Titans, the LHS squad got off to a slow start in the first half but was able to get the victory with a very strong second half.
The Lady Lancers led after one quarter with a 17-10 lead, but let Nashua back in the game in the second period for a 27-25 first half finish.
In the final half of the last game the team will play at home this year, Londonderry outscored their opponent 13-8 in the third and 18-7 in the fourth for the victory.
Sloper was the team’s high-scorer with 17-points, Chau was right behind her with 16-points. Furlong finished the regular season with 12-points, freshman Reagan Anderson had six and junior Shannon Ball had five.
The team was scheduled to play number four-seeded Concord High School (15-3) to start Preliminary Round of the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association’s Division I Championship on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. on the road as the 13th seed.
