Lady Lancer Lacrosse Squad Wins Twice, Falls Once

Coach Mike Boyle saw his Londonderry High girls’ lacrosse squad take care of business against a pair of Division I opponents last week. But a tough Division II contingent managed to come into Londonderry and squeak out a tough victory at the end of the week, moving the Lady Lancers’ 2014 record to 3-2 in the process.

Boyle’s bunch crowned the visiting Concord High Crimson Tide by a full dozen goals in a 22-10 demolition at LHS on Tuesday, April 22.

Londonderry led 14-5 at halftime and was given no reason to look back over its shoulder during the second half.

Noelle Lambert registered a sterling, 12-point match by scoring five times and assisting on seven other goals. Alexa Bedell was good for a seven-point game (3-4-7), and Hannah Kearney (4-1-5), Chelsea Lewis (four goals), Molly Koon (two goals), Maeve Holland (1-1-2), and Michelle Hennessey (two assists) all had multiple-point games as well. Additionally, June Cranmer and Jackie Curtin potted single goals.

The winners’ goaltending was handled by Emily Holtshouser (two saves) and Michaela Kewly (three).

Last Friday, April 25, the Lady Lancers handed the Salem High Lady Blue Devils a 13-7 defeat on their own field.

The hosts led by a 5-4 margin at halftime, but the LHS crew turned on the fire in the second half and outscored the Lady Devils by a 9-2 margin to win going away.

Lambert bagged another eight points (5-3-8), Bedell notched five (3-2-5), Gabbi Morris scored three times, and Molly Koon tallied twice. Kearney and Hennessey each claimed one goal as well.

Then the next day in the rain and cold, the Londonderry bunch finished on the bottom end of an 11-10 decision to the visiting Hanover High Lady Marauders.

The Lady Lancers led 6-5 at the half, but 2-0 Hanover enjoyed a 6-5 advantage in scoring in the second half and it stepped away with the soggy success.

Lambert managed two goals and five assists in the defeat, Bedell finished with four points (3-1-4), and Chelsea Lewis scored twice. Single goals were snared by Koon, Morris, and Sarah Bell. LHS netminder Emily Holtshouser was credited with 10 stops.
