A split of its final two regular season matches against Salem and Exeter recently left coach Mike Boyle’s Londonderry High girls’ lacrosse squad heading into the first round of the Division I tournament with a 9-8 record.
The Lady Lancers pounded the visiting Salem High Lady Blue Devils by a 21-1 tally at LHS on Senior Day on Thursday, May 29.
Salem actually began that day with a better record – 9-7 – than its 8-7 host. But the Lady Lancers had no trouble with ending the Lady Devils’ season at 9-8 with the winning decision.
Londonderry was up 13-1 at halftime, and junior Noelle Lambert wound up pacing the more-than-formidable LHS attack by tallying five goals and dishing out one assist.
Senior Alexa Bedell was good for four goals and one assist, Molly Koon scored three times, Maeve Holland was good for two goals and one helper, Sarah Bell tallied twice, Hannah Kearney registered a goal and two assists, and single scores were added by Kristen Bates, Breda Holland, Gabbi Morris, and June Cranmer. Single assists were also notched by Morris and Chelsea Lewis.
Lady Lancers’ goalie Emily Holtshouser made eight saves her contribution to the lopsided success.
And the LHS contingent closed out its 2014 regular season with a Sunday, June 1 road trip to 11-6 Exeter. Boyle’s bunch wound up on the down side of a slim, 8-7 decision in that match to wind up the regular season at 9-8 overall.
