Lady Lancer Stickers Have Trio Take All-State Honors

The 2014 high school field hockey season was a productive one for coach Laura Federico and her Londonderry High Lady Lancers. And good news kept coming in for the locals weeks after the LHS contingent was knocked out of the Division I tournament.

Senior forward Jackie Curtin and senior defender Katie Montminy were named First-Team All-State selections by the state’s field hockey coaches, and junior midfielder Hannah McGrath was named a Second-Team All-State pick by that same group.

And still more good news was received when Curtin was made one of 23 New Hampshire senior field hockey standouts selected to play for the Granite State in the annual Twin State Classic match against a crew of Vermont senior all-stars in June of next year.

Curtin, Montminy, and McGrath all played significant roles for Federico’s 2014 Lancer contingent, which posted a  9-4-1 regular season record to nab the fifth seed in the Division I tournament.

The senior-heavy Londonderry crew, which will lose Curtin and Montminy and nine other 12th graders to graduation in the spring, got past the first round of the divisional tourney by edging the 12th-seeded Manchester Central Little Green by a 1-0 tally at LHS.

The Lancer team had its own campaign finished by the fourth-seeded Keene High Lady Blackbirds in a 4-1 decision on the road in quarterfinal-round play.
