Lady Lancers’ Lacrosse Team Jumps Back Onto the Winning Path

In the wake of recent losses to both the Bishop Guertin Lady Cardinals and the rival Pinkerton Academy Lady Astros, the Londonderry High girls’ lacrosse squad needed to right itself and return to the winning path in an effort to maintain pace in extremely tough Division I last week.

And the Lady Lancers’ 19-1 walloping of a Nashua South Lady Panthers’ team in the Gate City on Friday, April 29 was a dose of the kind of medicine veteran coach Bob Slater’s bunch needed. The win made the LHS crew 4-2 in D-I and pointed it toward this Monday’s rescheduled match with Manchester Central with a distinct head of steam.

In the slamming of South – which had defeated Dover in its previous match – the Lady Lancers received four goals apiece from Breda Holland and June Cranmer, three each from Gabby Morris and Dominique Breault, two from Emily Holland, and one apiece from Erika Tsetsilas, Kirsten Hoglund, and Camille Lamont. Two assists each were notched by Hoglund, Emily Holland, and Camille Lamont, and Emily Davison, Sarah Duarte, and Caty Derhak each doled out one helper.

“The team is surely working extremely hard this season,” said Slater.

“We still have not peaked at this time, but I believe we are close, as it showed in the Pinkerton game. This year’s team is very driven and has shown they can play with anyone in our division. And I believe with their work ethic and dedication they can be one of the top four teams. I am excited to see how these ladies continue their journey to our ultimate goal of the final four. And then anything can happen.”

Slater’s squad then had its Monday, May 2 match with 1-3 Manchester Central postponed by inclement weather.
