Lady Lancers Move to 5-0 With Win Over Blackbirds

The Londonderry High School Girls’ Basketball team remained undefeated last week with a strong 62-38 victory over the Blackbirds of Keene High School.
The Lancers had just one Division I game last week, given the Tuesday night after New Year’s Day off.
The team returned to the court to defend its spotless record for their first game of the new year against another undefeated squad.
Both LHS and KHS were boasting 4-0 records coming into the contest and Londonderry had very little trouble notching another win against their visitors on Friday night, Jan. 5, at home.
The Lancers outscored the Blackbirds in all four quarters of the game, starting in the first with a 19-11 lead, then limiting Keene to just one foul shot in the second period to lead 30-12 by halftime.
In the third, KHS was able to score 16-points, but Londonderry tallied 20, to accrue a 50-28 advantage.
In the fourth, LHS scored 12 to Keene’s 10-points for the lopsided victory and the Lancers fifth-straight win.
The Lancers defense dominated on both ends of the court, forcing a number of turnovers and grabbing a number of rebounds, especially in the second quarter.
Sophomore forward, Samantha Sullivan, had another outstanding game, scoring 26-points to lead her team in baskets. Sullivan had three, three-pointers, eight baskets, and one free throw.
Freshman guard, Gemma Murray, came away with 16-points in the contest, getting two, three-pointers in the second quarter.
Sophomore guard, Brooke Eacrett put up 12-points, with one from outside the arc.
The Lancers will try to remain undefeated on the road next week, with two more games. On Tuesday night, Jan. 9, they were scheduled to play at Dover High School and on Friday, Jan. 12, they will take on the Blue Devils at Salem High School. At 6:30 p.m.
Both of next week’s opponents started the week with 4-1 records.
