The Londonderry High School Boys’ Soccer squad finished their regular season last week with two commanding wins and will take their 11-5 record into the Division I playoffs as the number six seed and will host Pinkerton Academy in the first round of the tournament.
The final week of the season started on Tuesday, Oct. 19, with a trip to Nashua North High School facing the 7-8 Titans at Stellos.
In that one-sided contest the Londonderry boys outpaced their opponent by a final score of 4-1, with three of the goals coming from senior Owen Gingrow. Fellow senior Devin Sen was the other Lancer to find the back of the Nashua net.
Gingrow’s first goal came at the five-minute mark in the first half with the assist coming from Tyler Kraft.
Three minutes later Gingrow put his second score in with a pass from senior John Baumann.
Devin Sen made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute of the first half with the assist going to Kraft for his second of the game.
Gingrow scored his final goal of the game in the 62nd minute of the second half with the assist gong to Sam Street.
North’s only goal came in the 76th minute
Londonderry sophomore goaltender Jason Reilly made four saves in the win, including a key stop at the end of the first on a penalty kick.
Head coach Todd Ellis commented, “We really rebounded well after our tough loss, and I was able to get everyone into the game. We moved some players around for the game today and it produced a nice result. When we limit our touches, move off the ball, and defend well, we are successful and fun to watch.”
In the final game of the regular season, the Lancers were on the road again, this time in Hudson against the 6-8-1 Alvirne Broncos.
The LHS squad took that game 3-1 with goals by Kraft, Cristian Levantovski-Correa and John Baumann.
The Lancers scored twice in the first half, with Kraft getting his on a Penalty Kick in the 36th minute and Levantovski-Correa getting his two minutes later from Kraft.
The final Lancer goal came in the second half when Baumann had nice half volley in minte 52.
Reilly made three saves in the game.
Ellis said after the game, “Alvirne did a nice job of getting numbers behind the ball. Fortunately, we were able to do enough to get the win and secure the sixth seed for the playoffs.”
