The Londonderry High School Boys Soccer team got their first win of the season last week, beating Salem High School 3-0 on the road.
Heading into the game, Londonderry was sporting 0-1-1 record and the Blue Devils had a win and two losses.
The Lancers did all of their scoring in the first half of play against Salem
Senior forward, Cristian Levantovski Correa, scored the first goal of the game with an assist from fellow Senior, Stefan Sandu, four minutes into the game.
Sophomore, Brett McKinnon, was positioned nicely as he knocked in the second point of the game, by following up a rebound on a shot taken by Junior, Aidan White, in the 21st minute.
Sandu scored at 37:05 with an assist from Levantovski Correa for the third goal.
Junior Keeper, Jason Reilly, managed three saves while the Salem keeper was able to stop four.
Coach, Todd Ellis, commented after the game, “It was great to see the players come out quickly and play a solid first half. Things clicked for us today, but we will be put to the test with a quick turn around against Bedford.”
That test didn’t go Londonderry’s way, dropping that contest 4-3 at Bedford High School.
The Bulldogs took the early lead in the contest scoring in the eighth minute.
Levantovski Correa was able to tie the game 12-minutes later, but Bedford scored again before the end of the half.
Each side scored two more times in the second half, giving Bedford the one goal victory as the buzzer sounded.
Brady Joncas scored at 69:44 assisted by Jackson Lewis on a set play and Levantovski Correa got his second of the game when the Bedford goalie mishandled the ball.
Ellis felt the team did a good job overall, “We had a couple of miscues that we need to tidy up, and other defensive things to improve, but the team did not quit and competed hard the whole game.”
Londonderry is scheduled to play Keene (0-5) at home on Tuesday of this week and Dover (2-2) on the road, two days later.
