Lancer Girls Basketball Win Two, Suffer First Lost to Bulldogs

The Londonderry High School Girls Basketball team was quite busy last week as they worked to finish up the final games of the regular season. Over their four-day stretch, they were able to come away with two, 30-point wins, but then loss to the DI reigning state champs of Bedford in an exciting 60-53 decision.

The loss to the Lady Bulldogs in Bedford on Friday night, was a battle for the top spot in the Division I standings and determined the top seed in the upcoming state championship.
In that game, the Lancers played a solid three quarters, but fell short in the fourth.
Bedford led 23-18 after one quarter with the Londonderry squad coming back in the second for a slim 33-32 lead at the half.
The Lancers opened up a 48-41 lead heading into the final period where their host refused to go down and out-scored LHS 19-5 for the win.
The game was tied 53-53 with just over three-minutes left, but that’s where Londonderry was halted on offense.
With a minute left in the game, LHS was still within two-points, but fell short.
The Lancers started their week at home, on Tuesday, Feb. 18, for the final home game of the regular season.
In that game, against the Nashua North Titans, they celebrated the team’s three seniors while beating the Titans 66-27.
Nashua was held to single-digit scoring in all four quarters, trailing 34-14 at the half and finishing with a 66-27 Lancer win.

Junior Sammie Sullivan led overall with 20-points, including four, three-pointers.
Junior Brooke Eacrett had 15-points and sophomore Gemma Murray tallied 10-points.
The following night the Lancers headed to Massachusetts for an out-of-conference game at Lawrence Central Catholic where the team scored its highest point total of the season.
They beat the Lawrence squad 83-53 as they prepared to face Bedford.
Out of the gate it looked as though the game would be close, with LHS leading 17-16 after one and 37-30 by the half. In the second half Londonderry controlled both sides of the courts, holding LCC to just 8-points in the third and 15 in the fourth for the 30-point victory.
Sullivan led in scoring again, hitting for 27-points.
Murray put up 20-points and Eacrett finished with 19-points.
The two wins and a loss put the Lancers at 16-1 with one game left before the playoffs. The record solidified the number two seed position in the playoffs.
The team’s final game of the season was scheduled for Tuesday night at Keene High School against the 8-9 Blackbirds.
