The Londonderry High School Girls Volleyball team jumped out to a strong start of the 2022 Division I season with a 3-1 home-opener victory over the team from Spaulding High School on Friday night, Sept. 2.
The Lancer group only dropped one set to start their season, beating the Red Raiders 25-16, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19.
Leading the way for the LHS squad were: senior, Lexi Small, with 31 assists, four aces and five digs; junior, Ally McGonagle, had 12 kills, three aces and five digs; senior, Bella Elguezabal, was able to manage 12 digs; and junior, Abby Harrington, wound up with nine digs and three aces.
Other players on the Lancer squad are: senior, Shannon Ball; freshman, Riley Campo; juniors, Olivia and Sarah DeFazio; senior, Samantha Fortier; junior, Allison McGonagle; and seniors, Sydney Rankin, Ashley Sarazin, Madison Saucier, Rebecca Tinkler and Lacey Turner.
The Lancer squad made it as far as the Division I quarterfinals last season, finishing with an impressive 13-5 record and were the number six seed in the playoffs.
This year, nine out of the 14 players on the team are seniors, making for a lot of experience on the court.
