Lancer Gymnasts End Their Regular Season in Superb Fashion

The Londonderry High girls’ gymnastics squad capped off its excellent 2017-18 regular season with a superb performance in a five-team meet on Senior Night in its home gymnasium on the final day of January last Wednesday.

Coach Heather Lennon’s Lancers tallied a score of 132.05, which was nearly 26 points better than the 106.8 scored by the runner-up contingent from Dover High. Spaulding of Rochester placed third (105.25), Milford was fourth (90.8), and Merrimack brought up the rear (74.1).

The victorious LHS crew got event wins from Mira Kutney on both the uneven bars (8.5) and the balance beam (8.9), Maddie Croteau on the vault (9.0), and Ashley Griffin in the floor exercise (8.5). Kutney also won the all-around (34.25) with her teammate Croteau in second place (33.45).

Other second places were snagged by Ashley Griffin on vault (8.7), Seana Kelly on bars (8.1), Croteau on beam (tied with an 8.7), and Kutney on floor (8.3).

Thirds were collected by Kutney on vault (8.65) and Croteau on bars (7.75) and in the floor exercise (8.0).

“Tonight we celebrated our four seniors Gianna DelViscovo, Courtney Baharian, Mira Kutney, and Tyla Kelley,” said coach Lennon. “They have all been on the team for all four years and leaders and role models to the rest of the girls. We will truly miss them and wish them all the best of luck with the next chapter in their lives.”

But the LHS crew still has a bit of important work ahead of it, with the state championship meet forthcoming and Pinkerton intent on staying  champ.

“The next week and a half we are really focusing and honing in on our routines. We have our eyes set on states at the University of New Hampshire on February 10,” said  the coach following that last regular season meet.
