The Londonderry High School Alpine Ski Team competed in two events to finish the 2022 season earlier this month. The events included an All-Day race that LHS hosted at Sunapee Mountain on Feb. 10, and the NHIAA State Championship, which took place on Monday, Feb. 14 for the girls and on Feb. 15 of the boys.
The boys’ team was not able to officially “place” in these races since the team only has three racers on the team and four are needed to “place”.
In the NHIAA State Championship Giant Slalom at Gunstock Mountain there were 88 girls participated in the event, and LHS Freshman Piper Locke finished 15th overall in the Championship.
Locke had a total race time of 79.99 and earned 86-points. She finished 15th overall in the race. Sophomore Laurel Guthrie had a total race time of 88.19 and earned 62-points, finishing 46th overall.
Senior Jilian Jones had a total race time of 94.55 and earned 49 NHIAA points. She finished 61st overall in the race.
Senior captain Alex Tufts had a total race time of 96.61 and earned 48-points to finish 63rd overall.
The LHS girls’ team finished in 10th place of 17 teams.
In the Slalom, Locke had a combined time of 89.01 and earned 86-points, finishing in 15th place.
Guthrie had a total race time of 105.94, earning 65-points to finish 40th.
Jilian Jones had a total time of 117.04 and received 65-points, finishing 53rd overall.
Madison Tufts had a total race time of 125.33, earning 51-points and finishing 58th overall.
The LHS girls finished 10th of 17 in that event also.
The following day, the boys competed in the Giant Slalom and junior Captain Will Louiselle had a total race time of 66.35 and earned 70-points with a 35th overall finish.
Sophomore Jacob Vogel had a combined total of 86.89 and earned 47-points to finish 65th overall.
In the Slalom, Louiselle had a total race time of 99.31 and earned 69-points to finish in 35th.
With 94 boys participated in this event, Louiselle finished 35th overall in the championship.
In the Girls Giant Slalom Race at Sunapee Mountain on Feb. 10, Locke had a total race time of 63.08 and earned 86-points to finish in 15th.
Guthrie had a total time of 66.12 and earned 79-points, finishing 26th overall.
Alex Tufts had a total time of 71.92 and earned 75-points, finishing in 39th.
Jones had a combined time of 73.15 and earned 74-points to finished 40th.
Overall, the Lady Lancer finished 6th of 9th, with 76 racers participated in the race.
In the Slalom, Locke had a time of 74.16, earning 92-points and finishing 9th.
Guthrie had a total time of 86.53 and earned 78-points to finish 30th overall.
Alex Tufts had a total time of 92.41 and earned 76-points for 35th.
Madison Tufts had a total time of 97.43, to earn 75-points and finish in 37th.
The girls finished sixth of nine as a team with 76 racers participating.
For the boys in the Giant Slalom, Louiselle had a total race time of 64.25 and got 80-points with a 26th finish.
Vogel had a total race time of 71.63 and earned 73-points and finished 42nd.
In the Slalom, Louiselle had a total time of 81.92 to earn 79-points and finish at 28th.
Turek had a total time of 115.99 and earned 68-points to finished in 54th.
