Lancer Softball Remains Perfect Through Week Three

The Londonderry High School Softball team continued to dominate their opponents in week three of the spring season. They now head into the second half at 9-0.
The Lancers had shutouts wins over Winnacunnet and Goffstown as well as a 15-1 rout over the Bedford Bulldogs to remain undefeated.

Londonderry’s school vacation week started with a 7-0 victory over the Warriors on Monday, April 28, where Alison Chambers and Elisabeth Kearney played a large part in the victory.
Chambers went four-for-four at the plate with a double and two RBIs, while Kearney posted three hits with a double, four RBIs and pitched a complete game, striking out 18-batters, giving up just one hit and one walk.
The game took place on the seacoast with LHS getting a run in the first, one in the sixth and five in the final inning for the team’s fourth shutout of the year.
Chambers and Kearney put the icing on the proverbial cake in the seventh inning, where they hit back-to-back doubles for the final runs of the game.
Centerfielder Riley Campo went 2-2 with a walk and Shannon Crowley hit the team’s third double.
Two days later, at Goffstown High School, the Lancers outscored the Grizzlies 5-0 behind the strong arm of Kearney, who got the team’s third no-hitter of the season, striking out 13-batters and walking three.
Londonderry started their scoring in the second inning, putting up two runs on a fielders choice with bases loaded.
Two more runs came home in the fourth after singles by Ginny Flaherty and Campo lead to the 4-0 lead.
The final run came in the fifth, when Kearney doubled in Chambers.
The Lancers only home game of the week was on Friday, May 2, against the Bedford Bulldogs, where it didn’t take long to dispose of that rival.
Londonderry scored six-runs in the first, four in the second and three in the third with an eventual 15-1 victory.
Bedford’s only run came by way of a leadoff homerun to left field in the fourth inning.
Abby Austen pitched four innings of the five-inning game, allowing three hits, one run, no walks and striking out eight-batters.
Paige Secor came in for the final inning to strike out the side.
Kearney, Austen and Chambers all had three hits in the win. Kearney, Chambers and Crowley each had two doubles, with Austen and Delanie Febbo getting one double each.
Londonderry will take on Pinkerton Academy on Friday night at home starting at 6 p.m. The Astros started the week at 8-0 and are one of the other two undefeated
Division I teams. The Windham Jaguars sit at 7-0 and are scheduled to face LHS on May 28 in Londonderry.
