While many of the High School Softball teams fellow students were on vacation last week, the Lady Lancers kept busy playing three games, getting three shutout victories. The three shutout victories brought their season record to 7-1, their wins were against Bedford, Concord, and Keene.
On Monday, April 22, the team welcomed the Bedford Bulldogs and didn’t allow a run, thrashing them 12-0. Elizabeth Kearney registered the win with just two innings pitched, six strikeout, and no hits or walks. Olivia Cutuli came as relief for three innings, struck out nine, and also had no hits or walks. Abby Austen finished the last inning and kept the streak going with three strikeouts and also had no hits or walks. All pitchers pitched perfect innings not allowing a single Lady Bulldog on base. Four players got doubles during the game and it only took nine hits off of Lancer bats for the overwhelming win. Addie Browning went three for three at bat to lead the Lancers offense. Ginny Flaherty and Allison Chambers both had three runs for Londonderry. Overall, the team took advantage of their patience and got on base 10 times with walks.
Two days later on Wednesday, April 24, another home game for the Lancers, Londonderry took on the Concord Crimson Tide blanking that team with a three run win. Kearney was the winning pitcher, throwing seven innings with 17 strikeouts and giving up just two hits and two walks. As a team, Londonderry had eight hits in the game. With Austen and Cutuli getting triples, and Kearney and Flaherty getting doubles.
Finally on Friday, April 26, the Lancers brought their winning ways over to Keene where they took on the Black Birds, shutting them out 6-0. Cutuli pitched the entire game, getting the win, allowing just four hits, striking out 14, giving up four hits, and no walks. Londonderry batters got seven hits and struck out just five times.
