Lancer Volleyball Squad Begins Season with Three Wins

The Londonderry High School Girls Volleyball team is off to a good start this season, getting consecutive wins in their first three matches.
The Lancers improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 3-1 home victory over Merrimack on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
The LHS squad brought plenty of fans to the Lancer gym and the lone Tomahawk set win came in the third game that evening. Set scores were: 25-12, 25-11, 22-25 and 25-15.
Lancer team leaders in the match were: Senior, Madi Saucier, with nine aces and two blocks; Senior, Bella Elguezabal, had four aces and six digs; and Junior, Olivia DeFazio, went up for eight kills that evening.
Following that success, the Londonderry girls improved their season record to 3-0 with a 3-0 win on the road at Dover High School Friday night.
The Lancers bested the Green Wave 25-19, 25-21 and 25-13 for the shutout victory.
Leaders for the Lancers were: Junior, Ally McGonagle, with eight kills, four aces and five digs; Saucier got five kills, four aces and two blocks; Senior, Lexi Small, had 18 assists and three digs; while Senior, Sam Fortier, finished with six digs and three aces.
The Lancers will try to keep the winning streak going this week when they face two teams with 1-2 records, traveling west to play Keene on Wednesday night, Sept. 14, then hosting the Winnacunnet Warriors on Friday night starting at 6 p.m.
