The Londonderry High School Girls Volleyball team is off to their best start in a long time, winning eight straight matches to start the 2022 season.
Last week, the Lancers defeated Manchester Memorial, Windham and Pinkerton Academy and only dropped one of ten sets during the three-game stretch.
Londonderry improved to 6-0 with their win over the Crusaders (0-6) on Monday night, Sept. 19.
The Lancers had a pretty quick stay at Manchester Memorial, keeping the Crusaders in single digits in all but one game, winning sets 25-8, 25-11 and 25-4.
Leaders for the Lancers were: Shannon Ball with five kills and four digs; Sydney Rankin had 12 aces and five assists; Lacey Turner got four kills; Madi Saucier managed four aces; and Lexi Small finished with five assists.
The following night, LHS played host to the Windham Jaguars (2-3), taking that match 3-1. The Londonderry squad was able to win 25-21, 25-18, 20-25 and 25-16 over a very good Windham team.
Leaders for the Lancers were: Ally McGonagle with 15 kills, six aces and seven digs; Bella Elguezabal had six aces and 12 digs; Small got 34 assists, four aces and two blocks; Turner finished with eight kills and Saucier was able to get seven kills and two blocks.
The Lady Lancers were able cap off the week with a convincing win over the cross town rival Pinkerton Academy (3-4) and improve to 8-0 with the Mack Plaque home win.
Pinkerton was able to battle back a bit in the third set, but fell in three straight, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-16.
Lancer leaders in the game were: Small with 20 assist and 10 digs; Elguezabal with five aces, six digs and two kills; Liv DeFazio with six kills, two digs; Turner had five kills and seven digs; and Ball finished with eight digs and two aces.
The team is now tied with Nashua North at the top of the division with their outstanding 8-0 record. They will face the Titans in the first week of October.
