The Londonderry High School Wresting team notched its first home dual meet win of the season last week and had also saw their 152 pound wrestler, David Pento, take another Massachusetts title.
During the Dual Meet on Wednesday night, Jan. 4, against the Nashua South Purple Panthers, the Lancers were able to achieve two pins, a technical fall, and four forfeits to take a 47-36 win over NSHS.
Londonderry started the evening with three wins and one loss by forfeit.
Nikki Stylianos (106 lbs.), Jake McClory (120 lbs.), and Nicolas D`Alessandro (132 lbs.) were all unopposed for six points each.
At 138 lbs., Londonderry’s Emanuel Perez had the first actual match of the evening and achieved a 21-4 Technical Fall over Marlon Gomez, of Nashua in the third period.
At 152 lbs, David Pento made fairly short work of his opponent Diego Dominguez with a pin in the first period.
The 170 lb. Lancer, Patrick O’Connor, battled back from an early deficit to put up six points for his Londonderry squad with a pin over Connor Whitman.
Londonderry’s final six points of the evening came with a forfeit win for Kyle Jasper, at 285 lbs.
Over the weekend, the Lancers had a number of wrestlers finish the day with good results and the team finished with a very respectable result at the 2023 Chelmsford Invitational in Massachusetts.
The Lancers finished in sixth-place in the 26-team field at that event.
The best LHS result of the day went to Pento, who fought for five victories and a first-place medal in the tournament. Pento got four straight pins on his way to the finals, where he took an 8-2 decision for the win.
At 195, Andreas Taliadouros went 4-1 and took third place at the event. Taliadouros had three pins and a 12-6 decision on the day.
Manny Perez (138), Michael Palma (145) and Patrick O’Connor (170) all went 4-1 and were able to take fifth place.
Londonderry will travel to Exeter High School on Wednesday, Jan. 11, to face the Blue Hawks in their next dual meet then on Saturday, Jan. 14, the LHS team will head to Hollis-Brookline High School for a Quad-Meet.
