The Londonderry High School Baseball team started the Division I Spring season off with a bang, outscoring two teams by a 19-2 margin.
The Lancers began the week at home, shutting out the Winnacunnet Warriors 8-0 and then traveled to Manchester where they walked away with an 11-2 victory.
In the squads start to the 2023 season, beating Winnacunnet High School 8-0 on Monday, April 10, in their home opener, the Lancers managed to force the Warriors starting pitcher off the mound by the fifth inning, scoring three in that inning.
Londonderry senior, Connor Fennell, was the starting pitcher and got the win, pitching six innings, striking out nine batters and giving up just four hits with two walks.
Junior Ryan Williams was the relief pitcher and had one strikeout, one walk, and one hit.
Junior Owen Carey led the offense with three RBIs off two hits and crossed the plate three times with four at bats.
Brett McKinnon had two hits and two runs. Johan Pena and Liam Stott both had two RBIs and Jayden Hamilton had the teams only double in the game.
Londonderry followed that game up with another gem, beating Manchester Central-West High Schools by nine runs.
All of their runs came in the first four inning, scoring four in each of the first two, then another three in the third and fourth.
Senior pitcher, Michael Crowley, went six innings, striking out nine, no walks and giving up just five hits for the 11-2 victory.
Kevin Rourke closed out the final inning with a ground out, pick-off play, and a strikout.
The Lancers team had a total of 14 hits, led by junior Owen Carey who had three.
Fellow junior Jayden Hamilton managed a double and a triple, while Johan Pena and Drew Heenan both had two hits in the one-sided victory.
Hamilton and senior Colin Parent finished the game with two RBI’s each.
LHS is scheduled to play four games this week with two on the road and two at Lancer Park. They traveled to Exeter on Monday then to Timberlane on Wednesday.
The team will finish the week with home games on Friday against Trinity and Concord on Saturday. Both games start at 4 p.m.
