Lancers Baseball Squad Take Two of Three in Week Two

The Londonderry High School Baseball team had its second straight 2-1 week to start the spring season at 4-2.

The Lancers had wins against the Timberlane Owls and the Merrimack Tomahawks to start the week, but finished with a 1-5 loss to the Spaulding Red Raiders.

Londonderry had it second home game, on Monday April 20, where they needed to come back from a 3-6 deficit in the fifth inning, scoring five late to finish with an 8-6 win against the Owls.

Colin Philcrantz had the start, with the lefty pitching four innings, allowing four runs on six.

Sully Daron got the win, pitch three relief frames and allowing two runs on three hits.

The Lancers offense was highlighted by three runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the sixth for the come-from-behind victory.

Jaylon Stott, Connor Loughlin and Carter Washington all went 2-4 at the plate with Stott getting a triple and Washington hitting a double.

Jace Ruggiero also added a triple in the game.

The LHS batters finished with nine hits, walked five times and were struck out six times.

Two days later, at Merrimack High School, the Lancers easily got by the Tomahawks, scoring seven times and allowing just one run for the team’s fourth victory.

Casey Marsh recorded the win, pitching the entire game, allowing just two hits, striking out six and walking six.

Londonderry started the scoring with three in the third and added runs in the following three innings.

Ruggiero went 3-3 at the plate and had one of the team’s doubles. Stott had the other extra-base hit.

Sully Daron was 2-3 at the plate with two singles with four RBIs.

Londonderry ended its week at home on Friday, April 24, where they struggled to find a hole in the Spaulding defense and fell 1-5.

Stott suffered the loss, pitching five innings and allowing five runs on six hits, while striking out three and walking two.

The Lancers got behind early, trailing 3-0 after two and their only run came in the bottom of the second inning, Washington scoring on and error after walking to lead off.

The home-field bats had just three hits, striking out four times and walking twice.

The team has games at Winnacunnet (5-1), at home against Goffstown (4-2) and at Bishop Guertin (2-4) this week.
