The Londonderry High School Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Tennis teams took to the courts again, after the week off during April vacation and wet conditions hampered their schedule a bit.
Both teams were scheduled to face the Pinkerton Academy Astros on Wednesday, but those matches were postponed due to rain.
The boys nearly got their second victory of the season when they faced the Salem Blue Devils at home on Monday, May 1.
Londonderry had excellent results from the top three starters, but the fact that two of their starters were out with illness resulted in three wins in the lower tier of the lineup.
Jayden Wu and Logan Hunt had 8-2 wins in the numbers one and three spots, while Aidan Board got an 8-0 victory at the number two spot in singles.
Wu and Hunt were also the only Doubles team to win for Londonderry. Winning 8-4 in their match.
Following that match, after the Pinkerton postponement, the Lancer faced a tough Dover High School squad, in another home match.
That match ended without a Singles win and one Doubles victory for an 8-1 loss.
The team of Hunt and Devon Pacheco had the only win with their 8-6 victory.
The only match the girls were able to play in the first week of May was against Salem High School. The Lady Lancers traveled south to take on the Lady Blue Devils, and were served an 8-1 defeat.
The only win of the afternoon came from junior Sarah Lamy, who beat her SHH opponent, Chelsey Blanchette, 8-4 in the #6 singles match.
