Lancers Eying Historic Third Straight Division I Title

The Londonderry High School softball team isn’t just defending a championship this spring — it’s chasing history.

Winners of back-to-back Division I titles, the Lancers enter the 2026 season riding a 33-game winning streak dating back to 2024 and looking to become the first program in state history to capture three consecutive Division I championships. While Salem won five straight titles from 1998-2002 under the former Class L format, no team has accomplished the feat in the current division structure.

Londonderry’s recent run has been fueled by dominant pitching, timely hitting and a veteran core that has grown together over the past several seasons.

The Lancers squad secured last year’s championship with a 4-1 victory over Pinkerton Academy on June 14 at Plymouth State University. The offense produced six hits, while pitcher Elizabeth Kearney delivered one of the most dominant performances in a title game, striking out 15 batters and allowing just one hit and one walk.

That title came one year after Londonderry broke through for its first Division I championship in 2024, a 12-0 win over Bishop Guertin. In that game, Kearney teamed with Olivia Cutuli to allow just two hits while striking out eight, signaling the start of what has become a championship standard for the program.

Despite graduating one senior — Abby Austen, now attending Wentworth Institute of Technology — the Lancers return nearly their entire roster, giving them both experience and depth across the field.

At the center of the diamond is Kearney, now a senior and headed for Stonehill College next year, is one of the most dominant pitchers in the state. She posted an 11-0 record in 2024 and followed it with an 18-0 mark last season. According to coach David Johnson, Kearney has yet to lose a game in her high school career — a remarkable streak that underscores Londonderry’s consistency.

The team has shown little sign of slowing down early this spring. Londonderry opened preseason play with four straight wins, with Kearney earning three victories and Paige Secor adding another in a shortened outing.

The Lancers picked up a 9-3, eight-inning win over Tyngsborough (Mass.) on March 30, then turned in a strong showing April 4 with three wins in one day — defeating Prospect Mountain 6-0, Goffstown 7-2 and Merrimack 5-1.

Beyond Kearney and Secor, the roster features a balanced mix of returning contributors, including Addie Browning, Addison Martinez, Alani Espinal, Allison Chambers, Allie DiNovo, Quinn Campo, Caroline Geary, Shannon Crowley, Delanie Febbo, Ginny Flaherty, Jay Valentin, Mackenzie LeBlanc, Mady Normand, Casey O’Donnell, Jen Raza and Sadie Moore.

Johnson, along with assistants Ashley Gillis, Russ Lowell and Thomas Amato, will look to guide the group through another very competitive Division I schedule.

Londonderry is set to open the regular season at home on Monday afternoon, April 13 against Salem, a program with its own championship pedigree.

With a proven ace in the circle, a deep and experienced lineup, and the confidence that comes from two straight titles, the Lancers enter 2026 with both a target on their backs and a chance to cement their place in New Hampshire softball history.
