Lancers Girls’ Get to 7-0, Sullivan Hits 1,000 Career Points

The Londonderry High School Girls’ Basketball team added their seventh consecutive victory with a 78-31 win over the Goffstown Grizzlies and in doing so, junior Sammie Sullivan crossed over the 1,000 career points mark.
The Lady Lancers played the team’s only game of the week on Tuesday night, Jan. 21, traveling to Goffstown High School where they were able to hand the Lady Grizzlies their seventh loss of the season by a rather overwhelming margin.

The junior forward, Sullivan, needed 14-points to break through the millennium mark and did so by scoring 22-points and as of the end of the week, she sits at 1,008-points.
Right out of the gate Londonderry exerted their dominance in the game, outscoring their host 28-2 in the first quarter and 16-9 in the second for a 44-11 lead by the half.
Sullivan was able put up what she needed for the scoring milestone midway through the second period, where a short celebration with a ball presentation took place for the three-year varsity player.
The guard/forward had two, three-pointers, six for two and was four-of-four at the foul line in helping her team to the 47-point victory.
Senior guard Mia Giampa was able to score 18-points in the game, including four, three-pointers and was two-for-three at the line.
Sophomore guard Gemma Murray scored 15-points with a successful three-point shot and a basket in each of the first three quarters.
Junior guard Brooke Eacrett had eleven-points and sophomore forward Addi Martinez finished with four.
After the game, Sullivan’s only focus was making to the Division I finals. When asked about her next goal she said, “Honestly, I’m just focused on this season, I hope we can make it to the championship. I have a great group of girls behind me and the support of my coach as well.” Adding, “I hope we make it far this year.”
She added that going into the game, she knew she was close to the milestone, but wasn’t sure exactly what was needed.
When the team arrived back at the LHS gym, the boys’ team was still finishing up and Sullivan was able to celebrate her accomplishment with senior Mason Paquette, who also got his 1,000th point.
The team will finish the month with a home game against Manchester Central-West on Tuesday, Jan. 28, followed by a match-up with Pinkerton Academy in Derry on Friday night, Jan. 31.
The Astros are currently at 9-1 this season and the teams will play the first game of a double-header at 4 p.m. with the boys’ following.
