With just a week left in the regular season, the Londonderry High School Girls’ Volleyball team posted three more victories to put their record at 11-4.The Lancers victories extended the team’s winning streak to five games and put the crew in a four-way tie for fourth place in the division. Londonderry moved to 9-4 with a strong 3-0 home victory over the Concord Crimson Tide (10-6) to start the week, winning three straight sets 25-21, 25-22, and 27-25. Highlights for the Lancers in the Tuesday night game include: Senior Ally McGonagle getting nine kills, eight digs, and four aces. Senior Melea Bizzarro finished with five digs and four aces, while senior Abby Harrington managed 14 digs.The following night, in Goffstown, against a very strong Grizzlies team, with a matching record, Londonderry battled their way defensively to a 3-2 victory.LHS won the opening set 25-19, but fell in the following two 21-25 and 17-25. The Lancers came back in the fourth with a 25-17 set win and finished with a 15-11 rubber game of the match. Senior Sarah DeFazio accrued 32 assists, six kills, and nine digs in the match. Harrington got 15 digs and assists, while sophomore Riley Campo had 12 kills and three blocks. McGonagle had another strong game at the net, with 16 kills and five aces, while senior Libby Bono racked up nine kills.The Londonderry squad had another test when they traveled to Timberlane Regional High School in Plaistow on Friday night, Oct. 13.The team moved to 11-4 with a hard fought 3-2 win over the Owls in another back-and-forth battle. The Lancers dropped the first set 17-25, but came back in the second 25-10. Timberlane took the third frame 25-7 and lost the fourth 20-25. In the final game of the match, LHS edged out their opponent 15-13 for the win.Highlights for the Lancers include: McGonagle getting 16 kills and 12 digs; sophomore Mady Normand putting up 24 assists; junior Gabby Pedrick had four kills, three aces, and three digs; and sophomore Elisabeth Kearney got five kills, four digs and, two aces.The team will finish the final week of the regular season this week with a Senior Night game against Salem High School (10-6) at home on Monday.
