Lancers Girls’ Volleyball Start Fall Season With a Split

The Londonderry High School Girls’ volleyball squad started its regular season last week with a very solid performance against Concord High School on Wednesday night, Sept. 4. The Lancers fell behind in the first set to the Concord contingent, but came back in the following three to end up with a 3-1 victory in the season opener.
The Crimson Tide squad got off to an early lead, putting as much as an eight-point advantage up in the game. Londonderry rallied late in the game to tie things up at 23-23, but despite that, CHS took the first set 23-25.
The following three were also close games, but the Lady Lancers kept the advantage winning, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20.
There were a number of standouts for the Lancers in the tight match with Concord.
Mady Normand came away with 24 assists and two aces, while Riley Campo chalked up nine kills, four aces, and eight digs.
Gabby Pedrick was able to get to the net with a total of nine kills and Kylie Harrison finished her night with 15 digs and two aces.
In the Lancers first road game of the season, the LHS squad didn’t fair as well, losing three tight sets at Nashua North High School.
Londonderry began the night with a 25-17 losing set, but came back in the second for a 22-25 win.
In the third, the Lady Titans edged out LHS 25-22 and the fourth went 25-19 in favor of NNHS. Highlights for Londonderry included: Jae Brunelle with 11 digs; Annie Williams finished with 10 kills and two aces; Elisabeth Kearney got six aces, 10 digs and three kills; while Gabby Pedrick tallied eight digs, seven kills, and three aces.
The 1-1 Lancers were scheduled to play at Exeter High School (1-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 11, followed by their second home game on Friday night, versus the Salem Blue Devils (2-0), starting at 5:45 p.m.
