Lancers Gymnastics Gather Back-To-Back Victories

The Lancers gymnastics team opened the new year with back-to-back victories, turning in strong performances in meets on Jan. 2 and Jan. 7 to establish itself as one of the top teams in the area.

The Londonderry squad competed on Friday, Jan. 2 at A2 Gymnastics in Salem, claiming first place as a team with a score of 132.95. Pelham finished second (119.85), followed by Salem (117.6) and Campbell (110.75).

Senior standout Cailiee Anderson led Londonderry with a second-place finish in the all-around, posting a 34.8. She also placed second on beam (8.8) and floor (9.3) and finished third on vault (8.9). Teammate Alex Pena added a fourth-place vault finish with an 8.8, while Hannah Linscott placed fifth on bars with an 8.4.

On floor, Anderson was second and Pena tied for eighth scoring an 8.8.

The girls recognized for strong overall contributions for Londonderry included Morgan Ayotte, Gabby Nadeau and Annabelle Hicks.

Londonderry followed that performance with another team win on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Goffstown YMCA in a four-team meet. The Lancers topped the field with a season-best score of 134.4, ahead of Goffstown (128.7), Campbell (104.5) and Dover (96.95).

Anderson captured the all-around title with a winning score of 35.5 taking first or tying for first on multiple events. She tied for first on vault with a 9.2, won floor with a 9.1, placed second on bars (8.7) and finished third on beam (8.5). Linscott delivered a standout performance on bars, winning the event with a 9.2, while also tying for second on floor (9.0) and placing fifth on beam (8.2).

Pena continued her strong season by tying for second on floor with a 9.0 and placing fourth on vault (8.3).

Ayotte tied for fourth on vault (8.3), Sophie DePasse tied for third on vault (8.5), and Kat Strong finished fourth on beam with an 8.3.

Additional standout performances were noted from Londonderry gymnasts Gabby Nadeau, Ashleigh Minahan and Emily Rich, as well as Campbell’s Kayla Kosinski.

With two convincing team victories to open the month, the Lancers showed depth, consistency and top-end scoring across all four events as they continue their season.
