The Londonderry High School Hockey team began its Winter season with two strong victories, one on the road against the Blue Devils and the other on home ice against the Blue Hawks.
The squad’s regular season began on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Salem Icenter, against Salem High School.
Senior forward, Owen Carey, gave the Lancers a 1-0 lead in the second period with a shoulder high wrist shot past the Salem goalie.
Fellow senior, Jayden Hamilton, gave LHS a 2-0 lead in the same period, which was all the needed for the 4-1 victory.
Junior Brett McKinnon and sophomore Brendan Fitzgerald added two more before the final buzzer.
Three nights later, on Saturday, Dec. 16, the Lancers tallied their second win of the young season, in a home game against Exeter High School.
Londonderry took that game over the Blue Hawks by a score of 6-3.
Carey scored a three-goal hat trick in the contest and senior Mike Maloney put two past the Exeter tender. Sophomore Nicolas Bishop had the only other LHS goal.
The team will have just one game to end the final two weeks of December. The Lancers will travel to Keene on Wednesday , Dec. 20 and take on the Blackbirds.
