Lancers Hockey Squad Tame Trinity with 3-1 Victory

The Londonderry High School Hockey squad was able to put up its second consecutive two-point victory with a 3-1 win over the Trinity Pioneers on Saturday, Jan. 18.
The reigning Division I champs looked very strong facing the Trinity High School contingent. Much like the Lancers, the Pioneers had only lost one game this season, and both had lost those games by just one-point.

The two teams were fairly evenly matched throughout the game, both had goals in the first period, within seconds of each other, but in the third period, Londonderry was able to separate from their host, with two-goals and a 3-1 win.
The first goal of the tight contest came at 14:02 in the first period, when senior forward captain Brett McKinnon got one by the Trinity goal tender, Joe Ronzello, a sophomore out of Londonderry, on a break away.
Just 14-seconds later, the Pioneers tied the score at 1-1, with a goal by Conor Hurley, assisted by Chris Centorino and Max Beaulieu.
The second period remained tied between the squads, with both needing to penalty kill. The Lancers were called for three and Trinity served two.
McKinnon was able to break the tie score at 3:48 into the third period with his second goal of the game. Sophomore Gavin Karoul and junior Brendan Fitzgerald had the assists.
Three minutes later, senior forward Nathan Beaulieu gave his team the insurance goal, with the assist going to senior Liam Knight.
The Lancers sophomore goal tender Justin Doyle had 38 saves, while Ronzello had 28 for Trinity.
Londonderry senior forward Anthony Ronzello also plays for the Trinity team.
The Lancers are now scheduled to have their first two-game week of the season this week.
On Wednesday, Jan. 22, they will host Bow (2-4-1) at 3 p.m.
On Saturday night, Jan. 25, Londonderry will take on the so far undefeated Crimson Tide starting at 6:40 p.m.
As of Tuesday, Concord stands at 7-0, with four of those wins coming on the road.
