Lancers Softball Bats Heat Up Against Panthers, Raiders

After dropping just their second game of the season to begin the month of May, the Londonderry High School Softball squad rattled off two more wins to put their season record at 11-2.
The 11-2 record puts the Lady Lancers up near the top of the division, with just three teams ahead of them.
On Monday afternoon, May 6, the LHS team pounded out 10 unanswered runs in four innings to shutout the Nashua South Purple Panthers 10-0.
Right fielder, Olivia Cutuli, smashed two homeruns and drove in four, while Addie Browning went three for four at the plate, with a double and two singles to help in the victory.
Elisabeth Kearney earned the win, pitching four strong innings, sitting down 10 Panthers on strikeouts, walking one, and not giving up a single hit.
Abby Austen finished in the circle, adding four more Ks and giving up just one hit, a two-out triple in the sixth inning. Austen struck out the following batter to retire the side.
Cutuli’s first homerun of the game was shot over the fence in centerfield in the second inning, scoring in Kearney and Belanger for a 3-0 lead.
Her second dinger was another to centerfield and worth one run in the fourth inning.
Jen Raza had the team’s only other extra-base hit, a double in the fifth to drive in the final run of the game.
Londonderry finished the week with another win, this time on the road at Spaulding High School, where they were able to out-hit the Red Raiders 12-3 and come away with a 7-3 victory for their eleventh of the season.
Kearney was once again the winning pitcher, throwing all seven innings, striking out 14 batters, walking four, and allowing three hits.
Ginny Flaherty had the only homerun in the game, getting a solo shot to lead off the fifth inning.
Austen and Nelson each had doubles in the game, with Chambers, Austen, Kearney Flaherty, and Riley Campo each getting two hits in the win.
The team is scheduled for three games this week, two home and one away.
They played games on Monday and Tuesday at home, then traveled to Merrimack High School on Wednesday, May 15.
