The team’s week started in Windham, on Monday, May 22, where they were able to notch their third shutout of the season with another strong pitching performance by junior Olivia Cutuli.
Cutuli sat down 13 Jaguar batters on strikeouts, giving up just three hits, and allowing zero walks in the 2-0 victory.
She was also two for four at the plate with a double and a triple.
The only Londonderry runs came in the final two innings.
Junior shortstop, Zoey Nelson, hit a two-out triple to right field and knocked in the first run.
Freshman centerfielder, Riley Campo, made it 2-0 with her solo home run to centerfield to lead off the seventh inning.
Nelson was 3-3 at the plate in the team’s ninth straight win and Campo and senior Lauren Laudani were 3-2.
Two days later, under threat of rain, at home, Londonderry battled to a 4-1 win over the Alvirne Broncos, where Cutuli collected her seventh win of the season.
After giving up their only run of the game in the first inning, Cutuli tied it up in the bottom of the inning with a lead off homer to left.
The team struck again in the fourth, with two runs with two outs after a dropped ball by the catcher resulting in a run to extend the inning. Senior Riley DeVall batted in the third run of the game with a single.
The final run came off the bat of Nelson, who hit a lead off homer to center.
The game was called in the fifth inning, due to torrential rains making the field unplayable.
Cutuli had 10 strikeouts in the game with one walk and three hits.
The Lancers closed out the regular season with their eleventh consecutive win on Thursday, May 25.
Londonderry traveled to Dover High School and came away with a 10-4 victory, out hitting the Green Wave 14 to six.
