The Londonderry High School Boys’ Volleyball team has strung together four straight wins and has started the Spring season with an undefeated record.
After beating Coe-Brown Northwood and Keene High School in their first week, the Lancers had convincing wins over Winnacunnet and Salem High Schools in the second week.
The Londonderry squad headed to the seacoast on Wednesday, April 19, and picked up their third win against the Warriors of Winnacunnet High School.
The team dropped just one of four sets and in that second set defeat, LHS didn’t go down without a battle, losing in extra volleys, 31-29. The other sets were won: 26-25; 25-21 and 25-19.
Senior Cam Normand had 11 kills, two blocks, four digs, two aces, and 21 assists in the match.
Junior Tyler Brown finished with 10 kills, two blocks, seven digs, three aces, and 19 assists.
Fellow junior Ethan Munro tallied 10 kills, three blocks, and a dig, while senior Spencer Brassard got nine kills and a block.
Other contributions were made by: senior, Colin Ness with seven kills, three blocks, and an assist; senior Trevor Edmunds put up two kills, three blocks, and a dig; junior Matt Doyle had five digs and an assist; senior Brady Joncas finished with two digs; senior Victor Elguezabal had four digs and one ace; and senior Owen Evans got one dig.
This marked the Lancers third win and the dropped set was just their second of the season.
On Friday night, April 21, on their home court, the Londonderry contingent dispensed of the Salem Blue Devils in three straight sets.
The first set was a battle down to the wire, with LHS outlasting Salem 25-22
In the second set, the teams battled back and forth with LHS maintaining the lead for much of that period until finally getting the 25-20 win.
The third set was another tough battle, with the Lancers battling through extra points until finally edging out the Blue Devils 29-27 for a hard-fought victory.
Brown had three kills, nine assists, two blocks, three digs, and nine aces and Normand finished with six assists, two blocks, two digs, and one ace.
Doyle finished one kill, two assists, 10 digs, and three aces, while Ness tallied four kills, two assists, two blocks, one dig, and three aces.
Senior Kyle Rondeau had two kills, one block, four digs, and one ace, while junior Ethan Munro got eight kills and two blocks.
Brassard also had eight kills in the game along with one assist and two blocks.
Victor Elguezabal and Joncas both had an assist and two digs and Owen Evans finished with five digs and one ace.
The Lancers finished the week in second place in the division, tied with Hollis-Brookline and one win behind Windham High School who sits at 5-0.
Londonderry has just one game this week, they will travel to Derry on Wednesday, April 28, to take on the Pinkerton Astros (1-4) starting at 5:15 p.m.
