The Londonderry High School Volleyball team has been perched on top of the Division I standings all season and last week they added two more victories.
With just two weeks to the regular season, the Lancers are looking to be in very good shape for the state championship.
On Monday, May 13, Londonderry had its second match of the season reach five sets when they faced the always-tough Hollis Brookline High School squad on the road.
Seven of the team’s 12 wins have come by way of three-set shutouts, three went 3-1 and only two needed to be decided in a fifth set.
In that match, Londonderry took the first set by a score of 25-18, but then fell to the Cavaliers in set two and three 25-19 and 25-20 respectively.
The Lancers went on to beat HBHS in the final two sets 25-20 and 15-13 for one of their closest outcomes of the season.
Points came from a number of sources: Tyler Brown had 22 kills, 18 assists, four digs, and a block to lead the team; Ethan Munro got six kills, 21 assists, 14 digs, and two aces; Matt Doyle had two assists, 27 digs and one ace; Crosby Nolan got one kill and three digs; Connor Koza had three kills; Liam Evans had 11 digs; Kai Hou was able to get two digs; Ethan Saranich had a kill and a block; Gavin Doughty got 10 kills, 11 digs, and four aces; and Theo Paccione finished with two assists.
The team finished the week on Friday night, May 17, with a home contest against Farmington High School.
In that match, the Lancers handed the Tigers their twelfth straight 0-3 loss of the season winning Set One 28-26; Set Two 25-16; and Set Three 25-23.
Londonderry is scheduled to face Timberlane (11-3) on Monday, Mescenic on Wednesday and Pinkerton Academy on Friday at 5:15 p.m. in Derry.
