LHS Girls’ Tennis Contingent in Rebuilding Mode This Spring

After waving goodbye to a number of true standouts from its 2014 crew, the Londonderry High girls’ tennis team of veteran coach Tom Meighan has moved into a rebuilding mode this spring.

Stars Cassie Burbine and Ana Milosavljevic, who helped to lead their 2014 Lady Lancers to an excellent 11-3 record and the sixth seed in Division I, left via graduation, but their fellow stalwart Marissa Beaton is back.

However, beyond senior Beaton, coach Meighan’s mob is largely rebuilding, and it began its 2015 campaign this past Monday with a 9-0 loss to the visiting Lady Warriors of Winnacunnet High School from Hampton.

Along with senior Beaton, the Lady Lancers’ present contingent includes 12th grader Margaret Phillips, juniors Samantha Board, Yuly Cabeza, Hailey Gilbert, and Elizabeth Mak, sophomores Sarah Court, Sarah DePasquale, and Kathryn Dwyer, and freshman Julia Turk.

The 2014 LHS crew had its campaign ended with a 6-3, quarterfinal-round tourney loss to third-seeded Exeter. But coach Meighan and his present team would love to be anywhere the sixth seed this spring.
