LHS Junior Represents State at Journalism Conference

For the sixth year in a row, a Lancer Spirit staff member will represent New Hampshire in Washington, D.C., at the Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship and Journalism Conference. Londonderry High School junior Matt Brown will travel to D.C. this summer to attend the conference at the Newseum, the Freedom Forum’s museum of news, media and the First Amendment. He is the seventh student from Londonderry High School to receive this award. In 2008, Ryan Rivard and Katie Lannan received the award; in 2009, the award was given to Eoghan Kelly; in 2010 it was given to Jen DePiero; in 2011 it was given to Meghan Rimol; and in 2012 it went to Stephen Wong. According to freedom- forum.org,

“The annual Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship and Journalism Conference program awards $1,000 college scholarships to rising high school seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism and who demonstrate qualities of ‘free spirit.’ The scholarships and conference are designed to inspire and encourage students to pursue journalism.”
