After losing several games to Mother Nature late last week, the Londonderry High softball squad bounded into this week rested and looking to add more victories to a perfect 4-0 record.

The Lady Lancers advanced their 2017 record to 4-0 with a 2-1, extra-inning edging of Bishop Guertin from Nashua at LHS on Wednesday, April 19. But then coach Wayne MacDougall’s Londonderry crew had scheduled games on Friday the 21st against Concord and Saturday the 22nd against Windham postponed by rainy weather and its after-effects. Hence, coming into this past Monday the 24th, the Lady Lancers were quite well rested for a home meeting with the Exeter High Lady Blue Hawks.

In the nipping of Guertin during the middle of last week, Londonderry required eight innings to vanquish the tough visiting team.

The Lady Lancers snagged a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the fourth inning, but then saw the Lady Cardinals even the score at 1-1 in the top of the sixth.

That deadlock remained in place until the latter half of the eighth when Val Shay thumped a double and scored moments later on an error to get her side to a walk-off success.

Andi Nelson was a standout in the pitcher’s circle for the locals yet again, bagging her fourth victory by going the distance and holding BG to a paltry three hits while striking out 14 would-be hitters.

Londonderry finished with a total of five hits, with Elizabeth DeVoss smacking two of those.

The Lady Lancers kept their record perfect and advanced it to 5-0 with a 3-0 shutout victory against Exeter this past Monday, plating single runs in the first, second, and sixth frames.

Andi Nelson was impressive in her pitching role yet again, holding Exeter to a mere four hits while striking out seven batters. And Londonderry lead-off hitter Raza tallied four hits all by herself in four trips to the plate, driving in two runs in the process. The winning side also got two hits from Lauren Misiaszek.
