LHS Spirit Crew Snags Sixth Spot at D-I Title Event

Coach Becky Barden’s Londonderry High spirit squad put forth a solid sixth place showing out of eight competing teams at the Division I Spirit Championships at Pinkerton Academy this past Sunday, March 16.

The host Pinkerton Academy and Dover Green Wave contingents finished nearly tied at the event, with the academy bunch narrowly repeating as state champ by one-half point in a 98.5-98 race with the seacoast team.

Londonderry was one of three teams to post a score of 85.5 – with Concord and Nashua South the others – at the preliminary competition at PA a week earlier. And that 85.5 tally was good enough to get Barden’s bunch into the D-I championship event last weekend.

Barden found plenty of reasons to be pleased with the work of her charges.

“We had a solid season with a lot of growth and accomplishments to make getting to states possible,” she said. “I wouldn’t say that this past Sunday was our strongest performance, but even falling short of the best we were capable of, we did very well.”

The LHS team’s members included Holly Alix, Dennis Bishop, Megan Butler, Gemma Caruso, Jill Dooley, Corinne Dubois, Elana Gennell, Madison McCrorey, Kelly McEachern, Alyson Morris, Kayla Palmer, Kirsten Quitayen, Becca St. Pierre, Julia Thorpe, Mariah White, Karissa Young, and Lauren Zins.
