Linda Wagher

Linda M. Wagher, 70, of Bedford, formerly of Londonderry, died Jan. 13, 2014 at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Dec. 3, 1943 in Watertown, Mass., a daughter of the late Cesario and Evelyn (Gostos) Bortone.

She was raised and educated in Watertown, and was a graduate of Dean Junior College and the Shepard-Gill School of Nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also completed her formal training.

She was employed during her working life as a Registered Nurse. She worked at many healthcare facilities and nursing homes in Massachusetts, performing various nursing duties.

She also enjoyed knitting and bingo and enjoyed attending her granddaughter’s dance recitals.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Darlene and Scot Newbury of Londonderry; three grandchildren, Victoria Elizabeth Newbury, Alexander Jenkins Newbury and Christopher Scot Newbury; a sister, Sheilagh Bortone of Hampton; a brother, David Bortone of Portsmouth; and a nephew, David A. Bortone of Portsmouth. She was predeceased by a sister, Martha Hungerville.

After cremation, a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry.
